About Acupuncture
We practice both “dry needling” and electro-acupuncture on our canine and feline patients. The practice of acupuncture is to access the nerve pathways and neurotransmitters to stimulate the healing process. Meaning each point can release hormones and other chemicals to surrounding muscles, tissues, and vessels to mitigate pain management.
Acupuncture can improve circulation, alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and reduce anxiety. Some of our patients may even fall asleep during this portion of their treatment. However, each patient is different, and Dr. Esquivel will evaluate each patient’s reaction and tolerance towards the needles. As always, each patient’s healing journey is different from others. Some see an immediate improvement, while others may take a few treatments to see the benefit.
Electro-acupuncture is explicitly used for nerve stimulation and is a treatment performed in conjunction with “dry-needling.” Electro-acupuncture is particularly effective in pain management. Both Electro acupuncture and “dry needling” are very safe and reasonably pain-free.
